Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before Your Dog's Stay

We know leaving your dog with someone new is a big decision. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often. If you don't see your question, we're always happy to help. Just give us a call or send us a text!

What types of dogs do you accept?

We specialize in caring for small breed dogs weighing up to 15 pounds. This allows us to provide a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment for every guest.

Is your home cage-free?

Yes and No. At bedtime, dogs sleep safely in their own comfortable crate or playpen for the night. This helps prevent accidents or injuries while everyone is sleeping and unable to supervise.

During the day, our home is a loving, cage-free environment where dogs enjoy supervised play, relaxation, and plenty of personal attention. Overnight crating simply ensures every guest stays safe until morning.

Where will my dog sleep?

Your dog's safety and comfort are our top priorities. At bedtime, each dog sleeps in a clean, comfortable crate to ensure a safe and restful night.

Dogs from the same family who are accustomed to sleeping together may share one of our spacious large crates if it's appropriate for them. Otherwise, each dog has their own individual crate.

If your dog sleeps more comfortably in their own crate from home, you're welcome to bring it along for their stay.

Our goal is to make bedtime as familiar, comfortable, and stress-free as possible while ensuring every guest remains safe throughout the night.

Are dogs allowed on the furniture?

Absolutely! Dogs are welcome on our furniture and beds because we want them to feel as comfortable and loved as they do at home.

How many dogs do you board at one time?

To ensure every dog receives personalized attention, we intentionally keep the number of boarding guests limited.

Will my dog be around other dogs?

Yes. Dogs have supervised playtime with carefully selected companions of similar size and temperament. Safety is always our top priority.

How often will my dog go outside?

Dogs enjoy supervised outdoor time throughout the day with frequent potty breaks and plenty of opportunities to play and explore in our secure fenced yard.

Do you send updates?

Yes! We know how much you miss your furry family member, so we regularly send photos and updates during their stay.

Can you administer medication?

Yes. We can administer most oral medications and injections as directed by your veterinarian.

What vaccinations are required?

For the health and safety of all our guests, we require every dog to be current on the following core vaccinations:

  • Rabies

  • DHPP/DHLPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza & Parvovirus)

  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough)

We also strongly recommend that dogs be vaccinated against:

  • Canine Influenza (Dog Flu)

  • Leptospirosis

  • Lyme Disease(especially for dogs that spend time outdoors or live in areas where ticks are common).

Proof of current vaccinations is required before your dog's stay. If your dog has a medical condition that prevents certain vaccinations, please contact us before booking so we can discuss your pet's individual needs.

Do you require a Meet & Greet?

Yes. We require a complimentary Meet & Greet for all new adult dogs before their first stay. This allows us to get to know your dog, answer your questions, and ensure that Furry Mother Pet Services is the right fit for everyone.

Puppies are the exception. Because young puppies are still developing socially and often have limited vaccination schedules, a Meet & Greet is not required before their first stay. We'll discuss your puppy's age, vaccination status, and individual needs during the booking process to ensure they're ready for a safe and positive experience.

What should I bring?

Please bring:

  • Your dog's food

  • Any medications

  • Favorite treats (optional)

  • A favorite toy (optional)

We provide comfortable bedding, bowls, and lots of love.

What if my dog has special needs?

Please let us know before booking if your dog:

  • Takes medication

  • Has mobility issues

  • Is blind or deaf

  • Has allergies

  • Has anxiety

  • Requires a special diet

We'll discuss whether we're the right fit for your dog's needs.

Do you accept puppies?

Yes! Puppies are welcome as long as they meet our vaccination requirements and are comfortable interacting with other small dogs.

Do dogs need to be spayed or neutered?

For the comfort and safety of all our guests, we require adult dogs 12 months of age and older to be spayed or neutered.

Puppies are welcome even if they have not yet been spayed or neutered. We simply ask that they be spayed or neutered by their first birthday before returning for future boarding stays.

If you're unsure whether your puppy meets our requirements, please don't hesitate to reach out—we're happy to answer any questions.

What happens in an emergency?

If your dog experiences a medical emergency, we'll immediately contact you and your emergency contact while seeking veterinary care if necessary. Your dog's health and safety always come first.

What are your drop-off and pick-up hours?

Drop-off and pick-up times are scheduled by appointment to ensure a smooth experience for every guest.

Do you offer home tours?

To protect the privacy and security of our family and the dogs in our care, we do not offer tours inside our home.

Instead, we schedule complimentary Meet & Greets outdoors in our securely fenced yard whenever weather permits. This gives you the opportunity to meet us, ask questions, observe where your dog will play, and ensure we're the right fit for one another.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll work with you to find the best alternative while still respecting the privacy of our home and the comfort of our canine guests.

How far in advance should I book?

Holiday weekends and summer vacations fill up quickly. We recommend booking as early as possible to reserve your dog's stay.

Will my dog ever be left alone overnight?

No. Your dog stays in our home where they are cared for like one of our own. We strive to provide a safe, loving environment where every guest receives personal attention.

What makes Furry Mother Pet Services different from a traditional kennel?

Unlike a kennel, we provide personalized, cage-free care in a loving home environment. We intentionally care for a limited number of small dogs so each guest receives plenty of attention, affection, playtime, and a comfortable place to relax.
